Internationalization of the Curriculum

Charge From the Dean
The Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences created an Internationalization of the Curriculum Task Force “to develop recommendations for internationalizing the curriculum in the College“. The Dean’s Charge was to answer three questions:

1)   Should globalization be a high priority for the College?

2)   How should departments, institutes, and agencies come together to focus on the internationalization of the curricula at the undergraduate and perhaps graduate level?

3)   What metrics should be used to measure our progress?

Facilitated Retreats
Two facilitated retreats were conducted held. These retreats affirmed that globalization should be a priority of the College. In addition, a wealth of ideas evolved as to how the curriculum of the College might be globalized.

Writing Groups and Development of Concept Papers
Writing Groups were formed and developed Concept Papers that addressed the five areas of internationalization. Concept Papers were developed in the following areas:

Experiential Learning

‘I’ Courses

Certificate Programs

Minors

Bachelor of Science – B.S

Professional Masters

Master of Science – M.S.

Professional Doctorate

Doctor of Philosophy – PhD

Formulation of Committee Recommendations
The Task Force formulated recommendations on prioritization and timelines for implementing Concepts, administrative structure, and incentives and roadblocks to success.
